Library Lending Policy
On borrowing materials from our collections
About Borrowing Materials
Items in our "Lending Collection" can be checked out to anyone with an Augustana College library card (including some local public patrons!).
Only a small portion of the Center’s collections are available for you to borrow. Researchers have most access to materials by visiting in person.
If you are unable to visit the Swenson Center, consider:
-
Interlibrary Loan
-
Virtual visit
-
Applying for our Visiting Scholar Award to help fund your travel
Public Patrons
While the Swenson Center and Augustana College Tredway Library are not part of the local public library system, we do allow people from the local surrounding area to use our materials. The following items are required for public patrons to apply for a library card to check out materials:
-
Current picture ID (e.g., driver's license)
-
Verification of address (e.g., recent letter or bill)
-
Unexpired library card from one of the following counties: Rock Island, Whiteside, or Henry (Illinois), or a high school photo ID, or be a member of the Swenson Center
You will not receive a physical library card, but instead a Photo ID will be required each time you wish to check out.
You may apply for a public patron library card at either the Swenson Center or the Tredway library at Augustana College. Holding a public patron card will allow you to check out at either location.
NOTE: Applicants must be at least 13 years of age. These cards are for personal use only. Each member of a family who wishes to check out should apply for their own card.
